    Santa Barbara Channel - Santa Maria Basin Study

    100meter Mooring

    Below is a picture of a typical mooring used in the Santa Barbara Channel-Santa Maria Basin Study.

    This mooring consists of the following components:

    • Surface: ARGOS transmitter atop a 5 ft. diameter buoy
    • 1 meter: Temperature sensor
    • 5 meters: VMCM with temperature and conductivity sensors
    • 25 meters:Temperature sensor
    • 45 meters: VMCM with temperature sensor
    • 65 meters:Temperature sensor
    • 100 meters:Pressure sensor with temperature sensor
